Andrea Polli

Sonic Antarctica

Sound and video installation, new version for @rt Outsiders 2009

How can one represent the reality of Antarctica? How can one make tangible the abstract datas related to climat? With sound answers Polli.
Sonic Antarctica inclut des enregistrements de sons naturels et techniques prélevés sur le terrain ; des sonifications de données scientifiques ; ainsi que des entretiens avec des météorologues et des spécialistes du climat.
By immerging us in a sound environment, Sonic Antarctica provides an intimate and tangible perception of a reality that remains for us out of scale.
She writes : Antarctica is an extreme environment that holds some of the most unique species, but it is also an ecosystem undergoing rapid change. 2007/2008 marks the fourth International Polar Year (IPY), the largest and most ambitious international effort to investigate the impact of the poles on the global environment.
